The project benefits from your support by allowing me to spend more time on translation, but also to continuously update our shared translation library.

Looking for something more unique?

Most translations adapt meaning to help you feel comfortable with the content. Alient cultures can be pretty much alien. But as a result much gets lost in the translation.

These translations want to help you understand the mind of the writers, of the practitioners and the reasons why and how they use(d) these texts. Translations are supposed to immerse you in the culture and wisdom of these people! When you choose to invest in the Guide Shifu at checkout, We jointly curate the content of the translations by taking your ideas and interests at heart.

Prayer translation in the format of practice

Prayer is a form of performance magic. For centuries we have battled religion to be able to do prayer in our own language, and I think we did not do that to surrender to another forreign language. These translations offer rituals in English so you can maximize the effect of the prayer through direct understanding and participation.

Neidan and Medicine texts to support understanding of practice

As a wudang Daoist and Zhang Sanfeng follower the translation of specific wudang works as from Zhang Sanfeng himself cannot be excluded. In the translation project is among others the Neidan Taiji Jing explanation of the Golden Flower method, but also other text linking to the great medicine of daoism in harmony with neidan practice, works by Shifu You Xuande on taijiquan etc.

But Don't Just Believe Me...

I have started reading the Daodejing a few years back, I still do not get it. Where does it come from, how do daoists use it? Bij reading into some of this translation work iIfound out a lot more than from the daodejing itself

I practice Chinese medicine for years. I always got annoyed that my studies at major TCM study centers prohibit me from understanding the background of TCM. It is also basic western medicine. By reading into the practice manuals and theoretical basics of the daoist worldview I think my clinical work became better

A friend of mine referred me to this library project to help me understand a bit more about daoism for a project I am working at. Now I frequently address these works in assignments I have for companies that work with to provide insight in the Chinese market.

I have over time folllowed Li-Ou in his work and I have seen him use Daoist ideas many times, and how he explained them. Having access to this material helped me appreciate the value of what I have learned from him more. I also like that it is a growing body of work, for a small price every month. I hope many people will join the translation project as support and user.

Meet The Guide Shifu Translator

Wudang Xuanwu Daoist You Li-Ou

My interest in Daoism was peaked by finding a daodejing in the local library. Its strangeness, its suggestiveness and world of hidden ideas seemed poetic, artistic. My meeting of teacher Liu in my 20's, and later Shiye Wang Guangde from Wudangshan, and Shifu You Xuande, where I took my oaths as a Wudang Daoist Monk, just sealed the deal of where my heart already was. He and others invited me to express my understandings of Daoism in classes and texts, translations.

Chapter of Zhang Sanfeng's

Taiji Neidan Jing

All (wan, 1.0000) things are like a confluence of plants and trees, they can still return to their roots, and they can be passed on through the years. Human beings can bethe culminationof all things in Ling, moving towardsdeath, but not as good as vegetation does. Can you be worthy of it? This is the way to go back to the root, and it is not an evil Dao. People in the world put virtue first, yin power as the foundation, observe the opportunities of yin and yang, seek the mystery of the universe, distinguish the two-eight barriers, determine the time of golden flowers, water and moon, exert the power of subduing dragons and tigers, and clarify the place of life and faith. During this period, keep the emptiness and keep the quietude, he births my quest, if the sun and the moon are in conflict, and the self is used, then the Dan- elixer turns into itsopposite.

"Weft of (ex)Changes" said: "Men and women have intercourse, and all things are born." People have this body, and they also get it because of their parents. If there are no parents, whereis the body? Pretending to be the Dao of golden elixir is the same as life. But if you obey, you will be born, and if you go against it, you will become immortal. Between good and bad, heaven and earth are separated. As long as it is used inversely, yin and yang will be achieved naturally, and it is not an evil path.
